Open Studios, July 2018

Our event was its usual vibrant and welcoming meeting of artists with interested and interesting people who took time to visit our studios.

The artists’ works are all so very different, and this provides an interest not only for the visitors but the members as well on a day-to-day basis: it provides the foundation of a respect for others and is the ethos we hold dear in Brooklyn Studios.

Every day of the event saw a steady stream of visitors to Brooklyn – welcomed warmly with a cooling fruit punch; tea or coffee available; donations were welcomed for our chosen charity – this year it is Calder Valley Search and Rescue Team.

Events like the Open Studios are complex; the organisation is arranged by dedicated volunteers who actually do the donkey work in the background; I mean the group who design and correlate the forms, booklets and posters amongst other things.  So, thank you to the back room team of our 8th Open Studios (think it’s 8 years, but someone will correct me I’m sure)!

And to our own members who’ve all worked together to get this wonderful event up and running; to name them is not difficult, but I won’t, as I’m sure to leave someone off the list – but we know who!

The opportunity to welcome our two new members, Nikki and Daniel is good; they were a tad bemused by ‘what was going to happen’. Now they know!
