Roll of drums… red ribbons galore, we’re OPEN!

Madam Mayor, Cllr Pat Foster of Hebden Royd TC declared our Studios open with style and panache, having first entered though another door; a mistake quickly rectified as we guided her back outside to the beribboned red door ready set for her; this slight hiccup was enjoyed by all and set the mood for a joyful and pleasing visit by our new Mayor and her Consort.

Our visitors spoke to every studio member, and expressed interest in the many different works on display with confidence and knowledge; all Brooklyn Studios members would like to thank the Mayor and her Consort adding that ‘special magic touch’ to what was a very successful event for all Hebden Bridge as well as the many artists working in our area.

The whole weekend was enjoyable; Chris Joyce, former Simply Red drummer, gave one-to-one tuition sessions for donations to this year’s chosen charities; Calder Valley Search and Rescue Team and the Finsbury Mosque Fund. This proved very popular and we are very grateful. Thank you, Chris.

The refreshments proved popular, provided by studio members; free but any donations are for our chosen charities.

We all worked together to make this Open Studios event the happy and friendly success it has been.

Last but not least, many thanks are due to the hardworking Open Studios Committee who put in so many hours of unpaid labour to make it all happen. Word has it that new people would be welcomed with open arms if this wonderful event is to continue next year.

Come on you 90 participants – there must be someone who can help; don’t be shy. WE NEED YOU!
